Ingredient Notes
Just a few simple ingredients make the most decadent Fall flavored cocktail recipe.
- Vodka - Use a high quality, clean, unflavored vodka so the coffee flavor of this drink can come through. Some of my favorites are Ketel One and Grey Goose. If you prefer a sweeter flavor, you could opt for vanilla vodka instead.
- Coffee Liqueur - I typically use Kahlua, but you can use your favorite coffee liqueur. You can even use homemade coffee liqueur if you prefer.
- Espresso - You'll need three shots of espresso for this recipe. Cool the espresso to room temperature before using. If you use hot espresso, it will melt the ice and water down your drink. If you don't have an espresso machine, you can use strong coffee, cold brew concentrate or instant espresso.
- Cream - Either dairy or non-dairy cream will work in this recipe. So it can be customized for vegan diets. For a little extra alcohol, you could use Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur instead. Yum!
- Pumpkin Puree - Use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. If you would prefer to use homemade pumpkin spice syrup, you can replace the maple syrup, pumpkin puree and spice with 3 Tablespoons of the syrup.
- Maple Syrup - A small amount of maple syrup adds a hint of sweetness to this rich cocktail. If you don't have maple syrup on hand, you could use simple syrup or brown sugar as a substitute.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice - This blend of pumpkin spice seasonings is what adds the flavor that's usually associated with pumpkin. If you're outside the US, this mix is usually called Mixed Spice.
