Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Stir occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Then reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla.

Allow the pumpkin syrup to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.
