Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

The limoncello spritz is a light, bubbly cocktail that is the perfect drink for a hot Summer day and warm evenings. Made with just three ingredients—Limoncello, Prosecco, and soda water—it’s super easy to mix up and full of bright lemon flavor.

If you love citrusy flavors, this simple cocktail is a must-try. The sweet-tart kick of Limoncello paired with sparkling wine and a splash of soda makes for a refreshing sip that feels a little fancy without any fuss. Add a sprig of mint or a slice of lemon, and you’ve got the ultimate summer spritz.

What is a Spritz cocktail?

Spritz cocktails are some of the most refreshing drinks out there. They’re usually made with a mix of sparkling wine (like Prosecco), a liqueur such as Limoncello or Aperol, and a splash of soda water. Most spritz recipes follow a simple 3:2:1 ratio - three parts bubbly, two parts liqueur, one part soda.

Ingredient Notes

You only need three simple ingredients to make the perfect Summer cocktail.

  • Limoncello - There are multiple brands of this Italian lemon liqueur, so you can try a few to find your favorite or make your own homemade Limoncello.
  • Prosecco - A brut Prosecco works the best.  But sparkling wine or champagne can also be used if you prefer.
  • Soda Water - A splash of soda water finishes off the cocktail.

See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for measurements.

Drink Variations

  • Add tonic water - For a slightly more bitter taste, swap out the soda water for your favorite tonic water.
  • Without Prosecco - Leave out the Prosecco completely or swap it out for your favorite champagne or sparkling wine.
  • Add vodka - Want a little extra kick? A a shot of your favorite vodka.

How to make a Limoncello Spritz Cocktail

This easy cocktail is made in the serving glass, so there is no need for fancy bar equipment. This recipe follows the traditional spritz ratio with 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Limoncello and 1 part soda water.

Prosecco being poured into a wine glass.
  • STEP 1: Fill a wine glass with ice.
  • STEP 2: Add the Prosecco and Limoncello.
  • STEP 3: Top with a splash of water and give it a quick stir.  Garnish with fresh mint and lemon slices or a lemon peel.
