Gin and Sprite

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

The gin and Sprite is a twist on the classic gin cocktail, Tom Collins or Gin Rickey - both made with gin, lime or lemon juice and soda water.  Combining good gin with lemon-lime soda creates a refreshing cocktail that can be enjoyed year round. The blend of citrus flavor from Sprite with the botanical and juniper berry flavor of gin is unbeatable!

Sprite and gin is a simple highball mixer that is quick and easy to make. Even a beginner mixologist will get this one right every time!

Ingredient Notes

This is a simple 2-ingredient mixed cocktail that is versatile and customizable. And due to its simplicity, it is a great cocktail option for a crowd. Plus, it is almost impossible to get this recipe wrong which is always a winner!

  • Gin - Most gins pair well with sweetness and citrus so feel free to use your favorite gin for this cocktail recipe. You could also consider using flavored gins, such as cucumber or strawberry, to add an extra layer of flavor to the finished drink.
  • Sprite - You can use regular Sprite, Sprite zero, or any variation and flavor of Sprite you enjoy best to make this drink. Sprite Cherry could also be a fun twist on this cocktail!  If you don't have Sprite any lemon-lime soda will work well.

Garnish Suggestions

When it comes to garnishing this simple cocktail there are a few options you could consider along with the must-have ice cubes. These garnish suggestions include:

  • A lime wedge or lemon wedge
  • Fresh mint
  • Cucumber slices
  • A sprig of fresh rosemary
  • The zest of a lemon or lime
  • Maraschino cherries

How to make a Gin and Sprite?

This is an easy recipe to follow with just a few simple steps. You don't need any fancy bar equipment such as a cocktail shaker, just a highball glass and a spoon to mix the drink.

  • STEP ONE - Add ice to your highball.
  • STEP TWO - Pour your preferred amount of gin over the ice and then top with Sprite. Give it a gentle stir.
  • STEP THREE - Add any desired garnishes and enjoy immediately.

Preparation and Storage Instructions

Make Ahead – We do not suggest making this drink ahead of time. You don't want to lose the carbonation from the Sprite and it is quick and easy enough to make whenever you are ready to enjoy it.

Storage – This cocktail is difficult to store due to the carbonation in the Sprite, but we recommend always keeping it cold.

Expert Tips

  • Choose your Gin - The quality of the gin will greatly affect the taste of your cocktail. Since this cocktail recipe only has two ingredients, use the best gin you can afford.  You may want to test a few different brands, since they will have different flavor undertones and you'll definitely like some more than others.
  • Alcohol-Free Option – Non-Alcoholic Gin can be used for this recipe. There are some great zero-proof gins on the market that are perfect for mocktails as they still add the flavor of gin without any alcohol content.
  • Increased Servings – This recipe can easily be doubled or more for larger events and crowds. Just ensure that it doesn't sit out for too long so you don't lose the yummy carbonation of the Sprite.
  • Sugar-Free Option – Diet Sprite or Sprite Zero Sugar can be used to lower the calories and sugar content in this drink.
  • Amount of Gin - You can adjust the amount of gin you add to your cocktail based on taste and how strong you want the drink to be.
