This Tokyo tea cocktail recipe is a refreshing drink made with sweet melon liqueur and fresh lime juice. A spin on the classic Long Island Iced Tea this easy Japanese Iced Tea cocktail is sure to make it onto your favorites list.
This hard-hitting cocktail gets it's name from the addition of melon liqueur, which is made in Japan. Six different liquors combine to create a delicious drink that somehow doesn't taste alcoholic, but definitely packs a punch! Unlike the Long Island iced tea, Tokyo tea is topped with club soda in place of cola - although some people prefer using lemon-lime soda for a sweeter flavor.

Ingredient Notes
- Midori (Japanese Melon Liqueur) - The bright green color of this melon liqueur is what gives this cocktail it's unique color.
- Vodka
- White Rum - Make sure to use a white rum, so you don't affect the color of the drink.
- Tequila - Similarly, a silver tequila will help preserve the green color.
- Gin
- Triple Sec
- Lime Juice - Fresh squeezed lime juice has the best flavor. If you're all out of limes, use lemon juice instead.
- Simple Syrup - I use homemade simple syrup, but store bought will work fine. If you don't have simple syrup you can replace the lime juice and simple syrup with 1 ounce of sweet and sour mix.
- Soda Water - Club soda is used to top of this drink. If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can use a lemon lime soda like 7UP or sprite.
What is Midori?
Midori is a Japanese melon flavored liqueur. Midori is typically used in cocktails rather than consumed straight. The liqueur has a bright green color and is made from muskmelons and yubari fruit, which give it a sweet and slightly fruity flavor.
How To Make Simple Syrup For Cocktails
Simple syrup is a staple to make delicious sweet cocktails. Simple syrup is often used in mojitos, Long Island Iced Teas and many others.
To make a simple syrup you only need two ingredients. Sugar and water.
To make a simple syrup add equal parts sugar and water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
Reduce the heat and allow the syrup mixture to simmer for only a few minutes, only until the sugar has dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature and you're done! Simple right?
