7 and 7 Drink

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

The 7 and 7 drink is an easy, no-fuss cocktail that’s made with just two ingredients: Seagram’s 7 Crown whiskey and 7UP. It’s served over ice and has that perfect balance of sweet, citrusy soda and smooth whiskey—super refreshing and a great choice for just about any occasion.

This classic highball has been around since the 1970s and was a staple at dive bars and home bar carts alike. The simplicity of this drink is what makes it so lovable - you don’t need any special tools, and it’s nearly impossible to mess up. Just pour, stir, and sip!

Ingredient Notes

Just like a Vodka and Coke, the name tells you what goes into this mixed drink.

  • Seagram’s 7 Crown Whiskey - A shot of Seagram's is what is traditionally used to make a 7 and 7 but this drink could be made with any other whiskey or bourbon that you prefer. Seagram's whiskey is a blended American whiskey that is mild and smooth with a sweet, vanilla flavor.
  • 7-UP - 7-Up is the traditional soda that is used to top a 7 and 7. It is a lemon-lime soda that is sweet and bubbly and blends beautifully with whiskey. You can replace the 7UP with with Sprite or any other lemon-lime soda that you prefer.  Or to change the flavor try club soda or ginger ale!

See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for measurements.
